Jolted Mocha Smoothie

blend:

1/4 cup raw almonds (walnuts and cashews work great in this one too!)

1/2 small banana (frozen preferred for creaminess) 

1/2 pitted date

1.5 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder 

1 scoop collagen 

2 shots of espresso (you can also just use 1 shot or 4 oz. of dark roast coffee and of course you can always use decaf if you want the flavor without the jolt!)

1/2 cup frozen spinach

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or other unsweetened nut milk)* 

*Add more or less for desired consistency. If using 4 oz. of coffee add less nut milk. 

This was one of my go-to smoothies while I was in culinary school in Italy. This a great smoothie to use before a workout when you also need to wake up a bit or when you know you have a big day at work that is going to require some extra focus and physical energy!
